About Us

In the Beginning it was the year of 1966

The war in Vietnam continued its escalation, while race riots and anti-war protests swept the United States.

NASA's Project Gemini was completed, and the USSR successfully landed a vehicle on the Moon.

Charles Whitman shot and killed 14 people from his perch atop a tower at the University of Texas at Austin.

A group of solid brothers from the area of  Tucson Arizona came together and created the first Charter of the Sons of Odin Motorcycle Club.

In the existing atmosphere of  hostile American Society and the controlling Government, the Founders realized that the MC had to be a true Outlaw Club,

based on the credo of band of Brothers bound together and outside of and rebelling against Society and it's insane bias, values and control of the day.

Following in the footsteps of older clubs that had left and rejected the AMA or the American Motorcycle Association, the very first patch created was

in the outlaw way or the 13 or one percent tradition designed as if cut in three pieces to demonstrate their contempt for the AMA insults and control.

To match the pulse of the issues going on in the then current events, the first bylaws to the core even pushed these values hard.

For instance if one fought, everyone fought and the no colors on baggers showed their passion for Harley Davidson's especially the

customs or chopper style motorcycles of the time. The first theme for the center patch was the stern Viking Warrior with long blonde-hair wearing a

Nordic style Maltese cross and with the MC boldly emblazoned on the horned helmet. The territorial rocker with a abbreviated Arizona included

showed the mindset and determination of this MC to have it's own self rule and self defense above all things, rejecting again Society.  This was 1966.

By the end of 1966 and entering into the new year of 1967, one of our Founding charter members Bill Thompson designed the Odin patch set that we see today,

the warrior became a skulled warrior with the horned helm and red hair with the emblem shown of the Germanic Iron Age Swazi or hooked cross known then as fyldot

from many artifacts and runes found from the early 2nd or 3rd to the 9th century. This rune was adopted as another rebellion against social order but had nothing

to to with WW2 or modern misappropriation of this Germanic runic symbol. To this day, it is a sacred symbol in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Odinism.

The title Sons of Odin MC and the red-haired horned skulled Odin Center Patch of the SONS OF ODIN MC trademark was assigned a Serial Number #98228154 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
